Done w Utah :)

So I need to go back and fill in some blanks... But everything is going well. I spent 5 days in Moab Utah, 4x4 capital of the US and where all the colorado rafting trip companies are based out of. I did a day float with just me and Max down the Colorado, visited Arches NP, and Canyonlands NP (Needles and Islands in the Sky sections). I took a jeep tour up Schaefer Road (finally I found a road my car wouldn't have handled).

I really lucked out too. I met John, owner of Navtech, a rafting company, and he let me park in the back of his shop for four nights. Funny thing was that there were 4 staff people of his also crashing in the backyard, so that was cool.

I tried the slickrock bike trail. I got 1/2 way through the practice loop and called it a day. There was a young family of adventure seekers with their two <10 year olds that hit the trail around the same time. As the trail was kicking my butt (there are things to make you fall every 10 feet), these kids rode on with dads "Yeah, Cody!!!" attitude in tow. I felt like a dweeb, until I heard the screaming (Cody's), and am so glad I stopped riding before I ended up hanging with Cody in the Emergency Room. Sorry your injury vindicated my suspicions, I hope the wrist heals up soon ;)

Yesterday, I drove South from Moab on 191 to 46 East, to 90 east through towns like Nuclia and Naturita, then I went sort of backwards to see Ouray, and Silverton which I missed on my last time passing through Telluride. The drive was crazy, really crazy! Look up the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. It was the kind of road that 4 cars could disappear over a cliff and no one would even know.

I then double backed up to Montrose where I called it a day at Walmart for the first time in weeks.

Today I'm going to Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and then I want to see Aspen, Breckenridge, Denver and Boulder before swinging back over to Salt Lake City for the 4th of July and then pushing north through Iowa to get up to Yosemite and Canada.

Max is doing well. I have a lot of car updates to share when I get around to it.

  1. Sounds like being cautious worked in your favor. I am glad that a ride in an ambulance wasn't part of your great adventure.

    hey mason!

Seems you and max are having loads of fun! boulder has lots of things to do and Denver is very pretty. if you pass by chance near colorado springs, you should definitely visit "garden of the gods", with some amazing rocks where people go climbing.

    have fun!
