Update... (AZ still)

So I spent 5 days in Sedona which were great!

Then I spent like 6 days In Flagstaff couchsurfing with Dan(imal). Great guy with a great couch and great fun. We went out to parties with his friends and I got to rest too. I got a bit of a cold while I was there. I think it was allergies and/or something to do with altitude (7000+ ft) but I'm feeling better now. My PC's hard drive crashed, but was replaced by Dan's friend Jesse at a great price (yes, I lost some data, no, I don't care much). And Flagstaff is a really cool town. Finally, Arizona! I was starting to think god spent 100% of her time making the beautiful parts of the state and subsequently forgot to add a good amount of nice people.

So while I was in Flagstaff, I met a lot of people. One of them is named Vanessa. She is Navajo and lives on the reservation with her family. She is on summer break from college in Albuquerque (I spelled that right on the 1st try!!). And.... we hit it off and agreed to make it Vanessa, Max and Mason's Great Adventure of the next week or two. We are going to do the four corners area stuff together (Chelly, monument valley, page (antelope canyon), glen canyon (day off), Vermillion cliffs, North Rim, South Rim. Look at them in that order, they make a nice loop.

So yesterday I went to the painted desert and the petrified forest with Max. It was cool. He got to chase a crazy fast lizard and took a picture perfect piss on a statue of a dinosaur. Stay tuned for the photo in my next slide show.

I spent last night here in the picture you see and today I am driving up to the reservation (just outside Pinon, AZ) to meet Vanessa's family and pick her up. It should be quite interesting :))

PS. I had another great camping party with Toadie at the south gate to the petrified forest. 60 years old, loves country/western and has the coolest TAB trailer. Look it up. We were like two people from different planets that wanted to trade shoes permanently. It was wonderful.

PSS My mom's B-day is on the 22nd. Happy Birthday Mom!

  1. Glad that you are meeting nice people as well as seeing nice places. The southwest is indescribable as you are finding out. Enjoy. Watch out for the snakes, especially Max. Thanks for the birthday wish.
