Canyon De Chelly

So I'm sitting at the base of a Canyon Chelly next to a river about 300 feet from ancient cliff dwellings watching my new traveling companion exploring the river bed. I have a small clay block drying next to me that I fashioned out of clay I found on the trail down.

Having a good time!

We are going to Window Rock (the Navajo Capital) and then to Monument Valley. Its great getting to see all these Native American sites with an actual Native American. Vanessa's grandmother is also a medicine woman so she knows a lot about the stories and cultural stuff that is in the background of these places. But she's never explored any of them so that's great too for both of us. Its called adventure and we are on one together now!

  1. I found this part of the US absolutely beautiful. It is so different from the East coast. You are lucky to have a companion who is so grounded in the culture and history of the area. You are having an amazing adventure. Looks like Max is having a great time as well.

    Love,
    Mommy
