So I spent last night at Oasis State Park in New Mexico, just south of Clovis.
Its a nice park, nice facilities. Desert sand dune hiking trail and a nice little man made pond (more the size of a reflecting pool). The water is also surprisingly good tasting.
We have been "camping" in the car the whole way from Georgia. It really helps to not have to set up the tent and break it down in the AM (15min each way).
The park managers haven't minded either.
Each night has been costing me about 10 bucks. I'm sure I could sleep somewhere for free, but starting and ending the day in a wilderness area has been really cool and has helped make the trip west much more fun.
I haven't found my destination for the day yet, but I am going to be getting to Phoenix on Thursday. I am meeting my old friend from college Christina who has been living out here for at least 6 years. She is going to Maryland this weekend to visit family and has been gracious enough to let me stay at her place while she is gone. So I should be in Phoenix from Thursday until Tuesday. I plan on uploading a lot, planning out the southwest portion of our trip and getting some much needed rest. My body is tired from driving so much and my brain is tired from being on alert all the time.
On another note, Clarisse's baby is walking and talking so if you haven't spoken with her, you can talk to her and the baby now :)

Seems to me like $10 a day is in the noise relative to gas cost
