So I've been staying with my Aunt in Glendale, AZ, Phoenix's neighbor to the north. Its 96 degrees again today and I'd really like to get the hell out of here (strictly because of the heat). It was 117 inside the car when I went out to drive yesterday. That's with tinted windows and custom fit silver sunshades on the windshield and both driver side and passenger side windows (unique? Yes! I made them myself.). So its hot, but it is going to get worse and I got here before it did and and and... I really had fun on my crazy drive from Georgia. It was like a mission. And so long as I did my 6-8 hours a day, I was going to get here in time (as my friend whose place I stayed in was going out of town and I wanted to arrive before they split).
Anyway, I'm supposed to be researching where I am going next. I'm afraid of leaving here with 5 days of info and then not getting to a good Internet connection for 10 days. It wasn't that big of a deal in the past, but I have a feeling that the next part of my trip if going to be a pendulum between two extremes; total solitude in harsh environments and a total zoo of tourist at convenience stops and particular sites. And I don't trust a lot of the info they are going on. A lot of them have their kids, their RV/trailer and their extra 50lb. gut in tow, so I don't see our comfort zones lining up exactly.
Instead of researching, I got distracted with an interesting biz idea: "Where you should live" calculator. So I looked it up and took someone else's quiz...
Here are my results, I'm glad that most of the places are still on the road ahead :)
Olympia, Washington
Chattanooga, Tennessee (Already been, hot women and hang gliding, CHECK)
Eugene, Oregon
Tacoma, Washington
Greenville, South Carolina
Corvallis, Oregon
Kent, Washngton
Johnson City-Kingsport, Tennessee
Asheville, North Carolina (Already been, Beautiful and if I was a lesbian my trip would have ended here)
Fayetteville, Arkansas
Bloomington, Indiana
Bellingham, Washington
Seattle, Washington
Roanoke, Virginia
Charelston, West Virginia
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Salisbury, Maryland
Salem, Oregon
Clarksville, Tennessee
Frederick, Maryland
Medina, Washington (Hey I could be Bill Gates' topiarist!)
Knoxville, Tennessee
Santa Cruz, California
Tulsa, Oklahoma
So I'm going to link these all to their respective wikipedia pages (any volunteers?) and then we can really hash it out about who knows what about which city is where I should live when I'm don't with the trip (Yo, I gottem' all it! (5 W's))
Have a great, cooler day than I am having :)
Mason
If you come out west to Southern California a lot of the Panera Breads have wi-fi. It's been warm this week (80s?) but supposed to be cooler next week, and if you get a chance to hang close to the coast I'm sure it'll be a gorgeous low 70s the whole time. You should have done your trip backwards so you were out west during the winter, you're coming out here just in time for the heat, but at least it's a dry heat.
ReplyDeletePlease give Lezlie a hug for me! I did the where to live test too. Guess what was on my list... HONOLULU BABY!
ReplyDeleteah I have so many opinions about so many of those places (and of course possible job prospects and contacts). We will need to speak but not in the next few days. Tom and I are off to New Orleans for no work-- JUST FUN!
